Mary Kunkle Guthrie, 88, of Indiana, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at her home.Born April 19, 1908, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of John Edward and Alice Walthour Kunkle.
Mrs. Guthrie was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana, and the Indiana Country Club. She was an originator of the Welcome Wagon for Indiana and a member of the Indiana Hospital Auxiliary. She helped establish the Pantry Coffee Shop at the hospital.
She was a lifelong summer resident of her cottage on an island on the French River in Ontario, Canada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace D. Guthrie, to whom she was married for 46 years, and nine brothers and sisters.
