Before 1820, he moved with his parents to Blacklick Twp., Indiana Co., PA.
After his marriage, around 1840, they moved to Galena, John Daviess Co., IL, where Daniel was a gunsmith. [Mercy I-98] notes that "Hartzell and Allied Families" by Helen Kuhn Black says that Mary, Daniel's wife, died Aug 1848 in Illinois. However, the 1850 Census shows Mary still living. This Census also shows son, Daniel, who is not in the Hartzell genealogy.
Daniel married Mary E. STAUFFER in Apr 1836. Mary was born on 6 Dec 1818.
She is the daughter of John & Margaret (Worman) Stauffer.
