4. Jacob MECHLING (Jacob ) was born in 1728/1729. He died in 1785.
He was born either in Europe or shortly after his parents' arrival in America.
Jacob married Anna Maria ZIMMERMAN "Mary" in Nov 1756.
She is the daughter of Sebastian & Anna Elizabeth (LeVan) Zimmerman.

Samuel married Johanna Esther GULDEN "Esther" about 1750. Esther was born in 1735. She died on 15 Oct 1811.
[Mercy IV-96] variously lists her death date as 15 Oct and 26 Oct.
They had the following children.
| + | 17 | M | i | Samuel MECHLIN was born on 30 Apr 1753. He died on 27 Feb 1819. |
6. John Theobald "Dewalt" MECHLING (Theobald ) was born on 11 Nov 1731. He died on 29 Mar 1816. He was buried in Feightner's Cemetery, Youngwood, Pennsylvania.
Dewalt's birthplace is not known, though his father was living in what is now Montgomery Co., PA at the time. Around 1734, the family moved to the cabin in Bucks Co., PA.
Dewalt's brother, Thomas, was the sole heir to his father's property. Dewalt's inheritance was 260 pounds, 13 shillings and 4 pence, to be paid by Thomas in increments of 25 pounds per year.
On 13 Jan 1770, Dewalt received a patent for 27 acres and 85 perches. On 30 Jan 1770, he received a warrant for 188 acres and 80 perches in Macungie Twp., Northampton Co. This was patented on 18 Aug 1772 and named Mechlinberg.
By 4 Jan 1774, Dewalt had left Northampton Co. and moved west to Westmoreland Co. where he was granted a warrant for 300 acres. It was surveyed on 8 Mar 1774 as 296 acres and 80 perches and he named it Longsides. The same day he was granted an additional warrant for 300 acres (later surveyed as 328 acres) that he named Strelitz. On 20 Mar 1788, he received a third warrant for 343 acres, which he called Mechlinburg. On 25 Aug 1785, he and Ludwick Otterman purchased 301½ acres located on Pokes Run. This property was called Macklin's Retreat.
On 9 Apr 1776, Dewalt enlisted in the Continental Army, serving as an Ensign in the 8th Continental Line of the Pennsylvania Regulars. He was severely wounded at the Battle of Bound Brook on 13 Apr 1777 and resigned three days later to return home with other wounded soldiers under the command of Col. Daniel Brodhead.
On 13 Jul 1782, one of the last conflicts of the American Revolution was the Burning of Hannastown. Though no Mechlings were known to have been injured or captured in this raid, the attackers' path from Hannastown to Miller's Station took them right through the Mechling farm, which became a graveyard for those involved in the killing of Captain Brownlee.
Dewalt is believed to be buried in Feightner's Cemetery with his wife. Feightner's Cemetery is now called Central Cemetery. The Mechling Historical Association placed new gravestones and Revolutionary War markers on the graves.
Dewalt married Sabilla KOHLER, daughter of Michael KOHLER and Sabilla, about 1756/1757 in Pennsylvania. Sabilla was born in 1736 in Northampton Co., Pennsylvania. 7. John Peter "Peter" MECHLING (Theobald ) was born about 1737 in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania. He was confirmed%<5 %@ %5%<6 in %6>. He died in 1765.
Not much is known of Peter's early life. If it was typical for a Lutheran family of that time and place, he attended the Upper Milford school, which was held in German.
After his marriage, they moved to Salisbury Twp. in what was Northampton Co. at that time. Here he operated a grist mill and a saw mill. Some accounts state that, although he was listed as an executor of his father's estate, he died before his father. However, [Mercy II-99] points out that the rleease of the family farm to his brother, Thomas, on 2 Jan 1773 shows that "...a sum of four hundred pounds shall be divided amongst my six children...", thereby including Peter since two daughters had died earlier. Further, it notes that the death record of Anna Barbara listed his death as 1766.
Peter married Anna Barbara KURR on 21 Oct 1760 in Evangelical Lutheran Congregation, Upper Milford, Pennsylvania. Anna was born on 25 Dec 1737 in Goschennhoppen, Pennsylvania. She was confirmed%<5 %@ %5%<6 in %6>. She died on 3 Sep 1804. She was buried in Bindnagle Church Cemetery, Lebanon Co., Pennsylvania.
She is the daughter of Johann Thomas & Elizabeth Kurr.
Shortly after Peter's death, she and her children moved to her parents' home in Berks Co. In Jun 1767, she appealled to sell her husband's land and mills in order to pay his debts and have money on which to live. These were sold on 2 Nov 1767. The money was paid to her at a rate of 150 pounds in a month, and then 100 pounds each May until the full amount was completed.
