Curtis was born 15 Apr 1884 in New Springfield, Mahoning Co., Ohio. He died 18 May 1969 from pneumonia. He was buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, North Lima, Mahoning Co., Ohio.
From an old 1899 map of Springfield Twp, his house was built on land north of Alpheus Sonedecker's property. He lived in the 12000 area of Beard Road. He built the house and a large barn about 1908-1910 and pursued farming. About 1950, when it was announced that the Ohio-Pennsylvania Turnpike would be coming through his property, he became quite worried about this event. He insisted the house and barn be moved to a location land just to south. The Turnpike ended up dividing his land.
Lillian (Wilburn) Bell, a widow, came to care for him and they eventually married. He died at home and she inherited the farm.
