Mack was born 2 May 1930 in Ukiah, Mendocino Co., California. He died 17 Mar 2005 in Ventura Co., California. He was buried in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, Ventura Co., California.

From the Ventura County Star of 27 Mar 2005:

When he was 8 years old, the family moved to Southern California, lived in Santa Barbara and Summerland, and eventually settled in Pasadena. During his youth, he looked forwward to spending time at his paternal grandparents' ranch in the Northern California community of Middletown. His Fathers's work for the California Department of Fish and Game gave him an appreciation for the great outdoors, especially the Sierra Nevada. His uncle Glenn taught him to fly and he received his pilot's license at age 16.

Mack received his pharmacy degree from Washington State College in 1952. He worked summers at a salmon cannery in Alaska to help pay his school expenses. After graduation, he served two years in the Army before moving to Upland, Calif., to begin his pharmacy career. Mack moved to Ventura in 1960 from Ontario, Calif., and became part owner of a Rexall Drug Store at California and Main Streets. In his 40 years as a pharmacist, he worked for Fox Drug, College Pharmacy, Disco/Fedmart and Thrifty. His co-workers were impressed with his high level of professionalism and his admirable work ethic. He personified the phrase 'job well done'.

The bachelor with the classic 1955 Ford T-Bird met Dorothy Bush, the love of his life, and married her in 1961. He became a source of strength for her and her four children, Stephanie, Shelley, Robert and Elizabeth. In 1964, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Lesley Jane, who became the light of Mack's life. She brought him and the family a new level of energy, fun and happiness, and he treasured the 20 years he had with her. Mack is remembered as a devoted husband and family man with a good sense of humor.

He always had a funny comment and a ready laugh. Mack was a good neighbor and always available to lend a helping hand. He and Dorothy enjoyed their family and home life, gardening, and the company of their many cats and dogs. Over the years, they traveled extensively on many KVEN cruises and a trip to Europe. Mack was a avid Lakers fan and one of his memorable outings was with Shelley to see them play at the Forum. Focusing more on step-granddaughter Rebeccah helped ease the grief of Dorothy's passing in 2003. He spent the final year of his life with this renewed purpose.

Mack married #65849 Dorothy Davidson.
