Lela was born 27 Nov 1907 in Culbertson, Nebraska. She died 30 Apr 1987 in Geneva, Nebraska. She was buried in Tobias Cemetery, Tobias, Nebraska.

After graduating from Tobias High School, she taught for several years in a country school. She then worked for many years as a telephone operator in Tobias, Nebraska, later became Counselor at the Geneva Girls Training School. She was Superintendent of the Community Church Sunday School, was active in the Ladies Aid, and was a member of the Easter Star, serving several terms as Worthy Matron. She was instrumental in the development of the Tobias Community Hall and active in the County Extension Club and Girl Scouts. She was also a Daughter of the American Revolution.

Lela married #34109 Rudolph Henry Pfingston.
